Young people from our street dance project ‘The M Word‘ are enjoying the sunny stages of Oxford!

Our community groups, from three different estates in Oxford, got grooving together for the first time on July 1 at the Cowley Road Carnival!

For most of the young people, that was the first time performing on the Dancin’ Oxford Stage. The dance stage is programmed by Dancin’ Oxford and celebrates the diverse number of community dance groups in the city.

Speaking to the Cowley Road Carnival organisers, Claire Thompson of Dancin’ Oxford said: “It is fantastic to see dance groups from old around the world. Got 20 dance groups performing with dances of all ages. Some who have been performing at Carnival for years and some new for the first time this year.”

And our new movers and shakers got the crowd moving to their rhythm!

But the fun doesn’t stop there! You can catch our young dancers again at the Dancin ‘on the Green Festival this Saturday July 14.

Enjoy the FREE event and catch our performances at 12:35 and 15:37 in Gloucester Green!

There will also be other dance performances, from professional companies to community groups, so there’s something exciting to watch for everyone!
