Future Leaders
In 2024, Body Politic launched the Future Leaders Project, a 12-month paid professional development program for diverse young artists (16-25) from underrepresented backgrounds.
This initiative tackles the lack of diversity in the cultural and physical activity sectors by investing in eight emerging artists, empowering them to create meaningful change.
What Future Leaders Gain:
- Hands-on experience delivering dance sessions with partners like Youth Ambition, the Parasol Project, and Gloji Energy Oxfordshire.
- Expert-led training in facilitation, diversity & inclusion, youth work, safeguarding, and trauma-informed coaching.
- A Level 2 Dance Leaders Qualification (Leadership Skills Foundation).
- Artistic mentorship from Shannelle Fergus, Kenrick Sandy, and Botis Seva.
- Choreographic development and real-world production insight with Far From The Norm and Boy Blue.
Carefully curated with mentoring, training, and artistic development, Future Leaders is designed to help young artists reach their full potential.
This project is kindly supported by Oxfordshire County Council, Public Health and Arts Council England.
