Breaking Ground 3K ARTIST/COMPANY

Commission

Breaking Ground is an evening of Hip Hop dance produced by Body Politic that will be presented at two major cultural venues: the brand-new Schwarzman Centre at the University of Oxford and South East Dance in Autumn 2026.

We are inviting two Hip Hop artists or companies to join Body Politic Artistic Director Emma-Jane Greig to present a triple bill of work.

We are looking for dance works that want another opportunity to develop and be presented. This is not a fund for brand new ideas, we want to help sustain ideas and support artists to make the best work they can without having to create from scratch repeatedly. We know great work takes time and can have many iterations and we want to support that.

We are offering each artist/company a £3k commission to remount or develop an existing work to be stage ready. We are looking for work to be between 25-35mins.

Performance dates:
  • Schwarzman Centre, University of Oxford, Tues 20th October, 2026
  • The Dance Space, South East Dance, Friday 23rd October, 2026
Deadline for submission:
  • Deadline for submission, 19th December, 6pm 2025
  • Applicants will be notified by 30th January 2026
Terms and conditions, marketing deadlines and other important details will be discussed with successful artists.
We’re new to this, so if we’ve missed something please just drop us an email and we’ll get back to you admin@bodypoliticdance.com
