Become a dance leader

Body Politic, Dancin’ Oxford and Pegasus Theatre are delivering another incredible Dance Leadership Programme this October half term. This programme will be for LEVEL 2 Dance Leaders.

The Leadership programme is a nationally recognised qualification, and is a brilliant opportunity for any young person looking to undertake an dance intensive, boost confidence and develop their leadership skills.

Dancers will have the opportunity to participate in four days of dance training with some incredible Body Politic dance artists, specialising in hip hop and street dance styles. Across the four days, dancers will also plan, create, and lead their own classes. This L2 training is really focused on dancers developing transferable skills which can be used in a variety of different settings and enviromnets.  

Special guests include the brilliant, Ellie Kinsey (Nottingham) and Jamaal O’Driscoll (Birmingham).

Once young people have completed the full week’s training and submitted a finished portfolio they will receive a qualification through Sports Leaders UK.

Dance leaders will also have the opportunity to perform as part of the World Trampoline Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham on Sunday 12th November. Led by B-boy, Jamaal O’Driscoll, dancers be part of a mass performance involving young dancers and professional artists from across the UK.

Location: Pegasus Theatre, Oxford

(Additional performance: Sunday 12th November, Utilita Arena, Birmingham)

*The cost of the training includes the cost of the qualification from Sports Leaders UK, a Body Politic t-shirt, 30hrs of professional dance training and travel to/from Birmingham.
